Acid Etch Graffiti

Acid etch graffiti is a common type of vandalism here in San Diego, it is caused by Hydrofluoric acid being applied to glass. The Hydrofluoric acid will corrode the glass where ever it is applied. We are able to resurface the glass to remove this unsightly damage.
Fabricating Debris Damage
![]()
Fabricating debris scratches are caused by low quality heat treated glass. When the glass is made, it is heated in ovens to strengthen it. During this process, any debris on the surface of the glass will bake into the glass itself. Once it gets installed and cleaned, the use of a glass scraper on the glass can dislodge the debris and drag it along the surface of the glass creating long straight scratches (see picture above).
How Do We Remove Scratches From Glass?
Removing scratches from glass is a 3 step process. We begin by grinding down all the scratched areas of the glass. Once we have grinded the surface of the glass down to the depth of the scratch, the scratch will no longer be visible. At this point the glass will look dull compared to the surrounding areas, which brings us to the next step, pre-polishing. Pre polishing the glass will make the glass smoother and prepare the glass for the last step, polishing. Polishing the glass will bring the glass back to its original shine, and you will be left with a perfect looking window, without the scratches.
